Can’t Have HEART Without Art!

It’s been a busy couple of weeks, but I’ve finally made some time to sit and blog about my most recent art project: HEART. HEART is a continuous project that very much comes from my own heart. Inspired by the photography of Sophie Gamand, this art project will once a month highlight a shelter animal and the shelter caring for them. The artwork created will then be put up for sale with the proceeds going to the shelter/rescue showcased for that month. Inspiration As I mentioned earlier, this project is 100% inspired by the work of Sophie Gamand. She’s been...Read More

Art, Auctions, and Art Auctions!

On social media this past Sunday I made the big announcement that I would be donating my recent artwork to the charity organization, Cherished Tails Senior Sanctuary. I was so honored when they approached me asking for a donation to use in their upcoming online auction. I mega-believe in their mission of giving abandoned and at risk senior pets a chance to live out their sunset year with love and a warm home. This will be the second time I've used my artwork to support Cherished Tails and I'm sure it wont be the last! I definitely have a soft...Read More

Drawing with Heat! My 1st try at pyrography.

Last summer while on vacation in Wisconsin, my dear friend took me to a local artist shop. It was there that I found a rolling pin with the cutest design of chick-a-dee birds burned into the wood. I took it home as a souvenir and a source of inspiration! Until then, wood burning had never occurred to me as a thing to do, but the rolling pin look so cool I had to give it a try myself. Funny enough, I ended up with two pyrography kits! One was gifted to me by my mother who didn't know I had...Read More

New Prints Available & Updates!

Girl with Scarf and Flowers Through shear determination, I completed a new work this past weekend! It started out as an evening sketch practice. Just something simple and relaxing to end the evening with. However, I ended up giving it some serious effort. What started out as leisurely drawing on the couch, ended with focused attention at the drawing desk. Last week ended up being a little stressful in my personal life, and I feel like that spilled over into this drawing. The early sketches depict the girl as mischievous and lighthearted. Where as the final result is moody and...Read More

National Animal Rights day! Raising Awareness for Cows in the Meat and Dairy Industry

Disclaimer: I am not vegan, nor am I against the agricultural/livestock community. Did you know that June 3rd is National Animal Rights day? I only found out about a week or so ago, however, the timing works out well with my most recent piece, a watercolour portrait of a cow decorated with a crown and collar of bold flowers. It’s only been recently that I have learned about how cows (and all other farm animals for that matter) are raised for consumption, both here in America and the rest of the world. What I’ve come to know as a sad...Read More
